Paint Kit

Below are some common questions about what's included in our painting kits.

What’s in the Box?
  • One painting decal design with number system (already figured out for you, you’re welcome)
  • Paint pots that are actually filled with paint, not disappointment
  • Six brushes (because we’re generous like that)
  • A photo of what it’s supposed to look like (no surprises here)
  • A numbers map in case they get a little too excited and paint over the numbers
  • A tube to keep their life organized (at least their art supplies, anyway)
How long should I plan for this adventure?

Real mom talk — that, depends on how many snack breaks and spontaneous dance parties happen in between. But realistically, our single decals are made to occupy the kiddos for 2-3 hours and the full set, well that’s a family activity, so 15 hours if they are doing them on their own-but that’s no fun! So grab a brush and hop on in there.

But here’s the thing: this isn’t a race. It’s your child’s chance to create something amazing while learning patience and attention to detail. Plus, it keeps them wonderfully occupied while you finally get to enjoy your coffee... while it’s still hot!

Does this work for kids of all ages?

From tiny humans to grandparents who still don’t understand TikTok — everyone can do this! We’ve made the designs and paint spaces large enough for as young as 6 years of age.

It’s fantastic for developing those fine motor skills, teaches patience (hallelujah!), and gives them something to be truly proud of.

Plus, it’s screen-free entertainment that actually results in something beautiful for the walls!

How on earth do these paint by numbers kits work?

If they can match their socks in the morning, they can definitely do this! We give them a canvas decal with numbers on it (like a treasure map), some fabulous paints and 6 brushes. They match the numbers to the colours like they’re decoding a secret message, and voilà - they’ll create something so beautiful, even Grandma will want it for her living room!

My little artist has never painted before. Like, ever. Will they completely mess this up?

As someone who can hardly keep track of her car keys some days, trust me when I say these kits are perfect for beginners! The numbers guide them exactly where to put the paint — it’s like having an art teacher right there on the canvas.

Your little Picasso literally cannot go wrong unless they’re painting with their eyes closed. Which, let’s be honest, some might try!

Help! My paint’s drier than my sense of humour!

Chill - we’ve got you. Just send us:

  • The kit name
  • Which paint numbers decided to give up on life
  • Your name and address

We’ll fix it faster than you can come up with an excuse to skip a PTA meeting. But remember — if you leave the paint pods open, that’s on you. Close those babies up tight!

Can I add water to the paint?

Nope! Don’t do it. These paints are like that perfect martini — they don’t need any diluting. They’re already the perfect consistency to make them look good. If it dries out a bit after being opened, add just a few drops of rehydrating medium (find it at any art supply store) which restores moisture and makes the paint smooth and easy to apply. Like CPR for paint!

How do I make sure these annoying numbers disappear?

Just like learning to ride a bike, some things take a few tries! Our designer hand-picks the paint colors and the numbers and lines are printed in gray (not black!) to help the paint cover in one coat.

However, you’ll need to do multiple coats, for some of those tricky pinks, reds, and greens due to their natural pigments — they’re like toddlers at bedtime, sometimes they need a little extra coaxing!  Pro Tip: For stubborn spots, try a gentle patting motion with the brush rather than brushing back and forth.

Can they go rogue with the colours?

Hard yes, you rebel! While we provide perfectly curated colours that work together (because we’re not monsters), feel free to throw our colour scheme out the window and let them do their own thing. Want to make that sunset hot pink? You do you, boo. Just stick to water-based acrylics, or things could get weird.

Decal Installation

How do I prep my walls for these graphics? (Because nobody likes a failed DIY)

Alright my fellow home decorators, let’s set your walls up for success! Think of this like prepping for house guests — everything needs to be just right. Your walls need to be properly dressed (that’s an undercoat plus two top coats of paint), and if they’re freshly painted, give them 30-40 days to fully dry — like letting your nail polish set, but way more important!

And just like wiping sticky fingers, make sure your walls are squeaky clean — no dust bunnies, finger smudges, or mysterious sticky spots allowed! Think clean, dry, and smooth - kind of like how we wish our kids’ faces would stay after we clean them!

What surfaces make our graphics happy?

They love smooth, clean surfaces-think smooth drywall, laminated wood, and glass. Throw them on anything textured and they get as grumpy as a kid who missed nap time. The adhesive just isn’t built for those rough-and-tumble surfaces.

Think smooth and clean, like a freshly wiped countertop — that’s their happy place! Skip the drama and avoid any walls with bubbling paint (that’s a red flag, just like refusing to eat vegetables).

Your wall surface needs to be smoother than your best mom-voice — so no textured walls, concrete, render, or brick (seriously, don’t even try it).

Can I stick these on my trendy exposed brick wall?

Let me save you from a Pinterest fail — our custom wall graphics need smooth, clean, flat surfaces to work their magic. Think of them like a picky eater at dinner time — they cooperate under the right conditions. Brick walls, as gorgeous as they are, are just too rough and bumpy for this relationship to work out!

How do I get the wall decal installed without losing my mind?

Peel and roll down 4 inches of the backing from the decal.

Flip and Stick the Top: With the sticky part exposed, slap the top of the graphic onto your clean wall. It’s repositionable, so adjust as needed.

Smooth: Use you hand to smooth the top of the peeled decal in place. If you want to be real profesh—you can use a plastic putty knife from your local hardware store.

Repeat: Reach behind, peel off the rest of the backing, and smooth the graphic onto the wall with your hand or the putty knife, working from the center out.

Ditch the Backing and Admire: Toss out the backing —it’s just in the way (unless you plan to store it). Step back to admire your handiwork.

Celebrate Your Awesomeness: You did it! Time to celebrate—maybe with a glass of wine?

Remember, if you need to reposition, peel it off gently at a 180° angle, keep the sticky side clean, and follow the same steps to reapply.

Do the decals look glossy?

Wall goals: matte & marvellous, just like real paint!  We use matte paints and our decals have a fabric-like texture that plays nice with your walls. They diffuse light (fancy way of saying they won’t blind you like a disco ball) and blend right in with your wall’s texture. It’s like they were meant to be there — but you know, without the lifetime commitment!

Decal Uninstallation

Let’s talk wall drama: are my walls going to survive removal?

Here’s the deal — our custom wall graphics are like that perfect houseguest: they stick around when you want them to, but know when it’s time to leave! We use a special canvas material and adhesive that’s designed to peel off most walls and painted surfaces without the drama.

Can these decals be used again? (Like that dress you’re hoping to fit into again)

While our wall graphics are removable, they’re kind of like first-day hairstyles: they look their absolute best on their first go-around. We recommend using them once and loving them in that spot.

If you do need to move them after they’ve been up for awhile, they’ll still stick, but you might notice some air bubbles playing peek-a-boo since the tackiness gets a bit temperamental over time.

If it's just a quick adjustment while placing them for the first time, you won't have any issues re-applying them until you find that perfect position.

If you absolutely must store them, wrap them up like leftovers — you can roll them up with some wax paper or parchment paper, but just like that fancy blowout, it may not be perfect the second time around! Use a putty knife to re-apply for best results.
